What does the Bible say about?

Who is God?

-God is the creator of the heavens and the earth. Nothing exists without Him and all things exist because of Him:

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters."

                                                      (Genesis 1:1-2 NJKV)
What is God?

-God is a Spirit. John the apostle spoke about this when addressing the samaritan woman about "worshiping God" in John chapter 4:

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
                                                     (John 4:24 NKJV)

What is the trinity?

-The "trinity" is the concept of "God, the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit" being one, yet three destinct personalities.

"Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
                                                         (Genesis 1:26 NKJV)

"Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"--

                                                         (Genesis 3:22 NKJV)

"For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one."

                                                        (1 John 5:7 NKJV)

"In the beginning was the Word*, and the Word* was with God, and the Word* was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made."

                                                        (John 1:1-3 NKJV)

*In this verse Jesus is referred to as "the word". It is also used in other verses to describe Jesus.

"For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God."
                                                      (1 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV)

Who is Jesus?

-Jesus is the Son of God. He is the second part of the "trinity" (God, His Son Jesus, His Holy Spirit).

"He* is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."

                                                           (Colossians 1:15 NKJV)
* "He" here refers to Jesus.

"Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, "Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves."

                                                        (John 14:9-11 NKJV)

He was with God at the beginning of creation:

"In the beginning was the Word*, and the Word* was with God, and the Word* was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made."

                                                        (John 1:1-3 NKJV)

*Jesus ="the word".

"And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was."

                                                       (John 17:5 NKJV)

"Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world."

                                                       (John 17:24 NKJV)

He is the one who died for all sin that whoever repents and accepts Him as Savior has forgiveness and everlasting life:

"The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!"

                                                       (John 1:29 NKJV)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

                                                        (John 3:16-18 NKJV)

He is the head of the church:

"And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence."

                                                    (Colossians 1:18 NKJV)

Who is the Holy Spirit?

He is the third person of the trinity.

He was with God in the beginning:

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

                                          (Genesis 1:1-2 NKJV)

He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment:

"And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged."

                                                    (John 16:11-16 NKJV)

He is given to believers:

"On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."

                                             (John 7:37-39 NKJV)

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

                                               (Acts 1:8 NKJV)

"When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

                                                (Acts 2:1-4 NKJV)

"While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God."

                                         (Acts 10:44-46 NKJV)

He teaches believers:

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you."

                                                  (John 14:26 NKJV)

He guides believers:

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you."

                                         (John 16:13-15 NKJV)

He empowers believers for ministry work:

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills."

                                (1 Corinthians 12:4-11 NKJV)

Who and what are Angels?

-Angels are spirits created by God. He created them to minister:

"But to which of the angels has He ever said:
       "Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"?

"Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?"

                                         (Hebrews 1:13-14 NKJV)

An example would be:

"When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, "Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city."

                                             (Genesis 19:15 NKJV)

Angels Bring messages:

"Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger."

                                               (Luke 2:8-12 NKJV)

Angels worship God:

  "Praise the LORD!
       Praise the LORD from the heavens;
       Praise Him in the heights!
       Praise Him, all His angels;
       Praise Him, all His hosts!"

                                     (Psalm 148:1-2 NKJV)

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
"Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"

                                               (Luke 2:13-14 NKJV)

Angels do not marry:

"For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."

                                              (Mark 12:25 NKJV)

Are Angels male, or female?

-No where in scripture have angels ever been refered to as "female". We know that they do not marry, but they are always refered to as in a male form, "image":

"Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

                                                (Jude 1:9 NKJV)

"Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When Lot saw them, he rose to meet them, and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground. And he said, "Here now, my lords, please turn in to your servant's house and spend the night, and wash your feet; then you may rise early and go on your way."

"And they said, "No, but we will spend the night in the open square."

                                        (Genesis 19:1-2 NKJV)

Is it right to worship Angels?

-Absolutley not! We are to only worship God:

"Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

Then he said to me, "See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."

                                       (Revelations 22:8-9 NKJV)

"Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,"

                                       (Colossians 2:18 NKJV)

What are fallen Angels?

-Fallen angels are Angels that have disobeyed God. Just as people are judged for their sin, so are the angels that disobey Him:

"And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;"

                                                    (Jude 1:6 NKJV)

"For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;"

                                            (2 Peter 2:4 NKJV)

Fallen angels are also referred to as "demons":

"And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!"

                                        (Revelations 18:2 NKJV)

Satan

-Satan is a fallen angel. He disobeyed God.

Historically he is "likened" to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon:

"How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
       You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
       "I will ascend into heaven,
       I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.'

                                        (Isaiah 14:12-14 NKJV)

He is the "father" of all lies:

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it."

                                                (John 8:44 NKJV)

He deceives people:

-Example he deceived Adam and Eve:

"Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, "You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, "You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die."'

Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

                                       (Genesis 3:1-5 NKJV)

He tempts people:

"For this reason, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain".

                                  (1 Thessalonians 3:5 NKJV)

He works in those who are "disobedient":

"in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others."

                                (Ephesians 2:2-3 NKJV)

*This verse refers to those who once were being influenced by his workings.

He will be judged:

-In the end he will be judged by God for his sin. This is found in the book of Revelation:

Satan Bound; the Thousand-Year Reign; Final Judgment

"Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while."

The Saints Reign with Christ 1000 Years

And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.  Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Satanic Rebellion Crushed

"Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

                                  (Revelation 20:1-10 NKJV)

What is Man and Woman?

-Man and Woman is God's creation. Created to worship and have fellowship with Him. They are given a "free will". Free will is the ability to make choices for themselves, whether good, or bad.

Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

                                        (Genesis 1:26-28 NKJV)

Why is Woman called "woman"?

"And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

        And Adam said
"This is now bone of my bones
       And flesh of my flesh;
       She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man."

                                    (Genesis 2:18-23 NKJV)
