However there are some things we need to understand.

 

First we have to understand that we have sin. Sin is any act that is rebellion against God. Whether it be our actions, or our thoughts. We are all sinners, and as such we must realize this:

 

  "The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
       To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
       They have all turned aside,
       They have together become corrupt;
       There is none who does good,
       No, not one."
           
                               (Psalm 14:2-3 NKJV)

  "As it is written:  "There is none righteous, no, not one;....." 

 

                                        (Romans 3:10 NKJV)

 

  "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,..."

 

                                        (Romans 3:23 NKJV)

 

So we must realize that we are all sinners. This means that we have "sinned", that is "rebelled" against God by making decisions that go against what He desires. Whether its a thought, or an act, rebellion against God is sin.

We also have to understand that our sin will bring judgment:

 

  "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

 

                                          (Romans 6:23 NKJV)

Knowing that we are sinners and that we will be judged, we must repent for our sin. To "repent" means to "change one's mind". In other words you realize that your sin is wrong, that you are sorry, you regret it and you decide that you want to follow God's ways:

 

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,"

 

                                            (Acts 3:19 NKJV)

                                       
You see Jesus died for our sin and we must realize that it is only He that can "redeem" us to God. Jesus dies for us despite the fact that we are sinners. We have to understand though, there is no earning your way to God! All you have to do is ask in sincerity!!There is no other way to God, no other "paths", "ways", etc. Only Jesus:

 

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

 

                                               (John 14:6 NKJV)
                                                          
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

 

                                           (Acts 4:12 NKJV)
                                                          

You see Jesus is the only way.

We must believe (trust) in Jesus to receive salvation (forgiveness for sin):

 

  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

 

                                      (John 3:16 NJV)

 

"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

 

                                     (Romans 10:9-10 NKJV)

 

So Jesus is the "only way" to God, to receive forgiveness of sins. This is the only way we can be forgiven! You see we must believe in Jesus to be saved. The word "believe" in the original Greek New testament is "episteuo". This word means to "commit to trust", "put in trust with". In order for us to receive salavation we must "commit our trust", "put our trust in Jesus." You see its not enough to simply say you "believe", but you must commit your trust to Him. Anyone can offer "lip service", but what God wants is real sincerity.

 Now along with this realize that you will still sometimes makes mistakes. None of us are perfect, that's why we need Jesus! God will help us in our "walk" with Him!! All we have to do is ask!

Do you want to be forgiven? Have a life change? Do you want to have a relationship with our awesome Creator and Savior, the author of life and of all things?

 

Well you need to pray. To "pray" means to talk to God (much like you would a friend). Prayer is communciation between you and God.

 

 

This is a prayer that you can pray to accept Jesus as "Lord and Savior" and make you a "son", or "daughter" of the Father:

Dear Lord,
                  I humbly come to you, knowing that I am a sinner and in need of your grace and forgiveness. I confess to you that Im am sinful and my just punishement is your judgment of my sin. I believe that your Son Jesus died on the cross for my sins and the sins of the world. I repent (turn) from my sin and ask that you forgive me and I receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior for now and forevermore, In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

Now its important that you find a church body in which to fellowship. Its also important that you are baptized as soon as you get the chance. The baptism is an "outward" profession of your fatih in Christ. The water will not save you, your faith in Jesus does, however it was a commandment of Jesus to be baptized as a public profession and as such should be obeyed. Baptism is symbolic of "death and rebirth". It is a public profession of your belief (trust) in Jesus.

Its all by faith!!! All you have to do is.... put your trust in Him!!
