Do you think that you are "not good enough" for God? Do you ask yourself, will God accept me? And then usually the answer
that you give yourself is a "resounding" no?
What if I told you that you did not have to be?
That you did not have to be "good enough" for God to accept you? What if being accepted had nothing to do with what you
have done, said, or where you have been? Would it make a difference?
There is an often "misconception" that you have to be "good" and do "good deeds", be "good enough" to be accepted by
God. Nothing however, could be further from the truth. You see God gives us His love and gift of salvation "freely" ,
without reservation. He loves each and every one of us. Regardless of what we have done, where we have been, what we have
said, He loves us.
With an unwavering, unending, "immeasurable" love He pursues us all of our lives. He loves us with a love that we will
never fully grasp. Even though we run from Him. He never stops loving us. In fact He loves us so much that He offers
us a gift that was, and is still, very dear to Him. A gift that truly is nothing less than "self-less". His Son Jesus.
As humans, its so hard for us to grasp and understand this. We compare His love with the experiences and relationships
we have around us, and those of the past. If we have known rejection, mistreatment, than it is so hard for us to relate
to Him. Take this for example, If your earthly father mistreated, or abused you, how would, or could you relate
to a "great awesome" heavenly Father? It would truly be hard, and understandably so! If someone has turned their "back on
you" in your life it is so easy not to trust anyone else.
If you could not trust a father who you have seen, how could you trust a heavenly Father, whom you've never seen? Its
hard to trust when you've been hurt.
You see we relate to God the way we relate to each other, and those around us. We tend to be "suspicious", "guarded"
and "untrusting". We try and put God in a "box", or try to "disect" Him. We like control in our lives. If we could do
this we would feel so much better, like we had more "control". Its a mistake though to think that we have to be able
to "put Him in a box", or try to disect Him. Not only can it not be done, its not even necessary!!
We compare Him to those around us, our experiences. Did you know though, that God is not like us? He is righteous,
honest, good, He is loving?
In fact the Bible says that "God is love":
".... for God is love."
(1 John 4:7-8 NKJV)
See God is love, but its so hard for us to grasp this. Many things about Him have been said that are so negative and
untrue. Between that and our experiences its so hard for us to see past these things and really come to know His love and
the gift that He has for us.
We are so afraid to commit ourselves to Him because of our past failures and hurts. We do not want the feeling of failure
again. Afterall if we fail at following Him, or we find out that He does not loves us, we are devastated! We feel there is
nothing left for us.
Did you know though? Nothing we could do would stop God from loving us! In fact even though, we do the things we do,
He still loves us and calls us to Him. Lovingly, like a Father calling His beloved child back to His arms. As a child who
falls and is lovingly picked up by his father, so is God with us, If we will, but let Him!
We become so dissapoointed with ourlselves, but we must realize it is not what we do that makes God loves us. He loves
us because he chooses to love us. He is love! "You" are His "beautiful creation" and He loves you, for you! He may not be
pleased with many of the things we do, but He still loves us. Its so easy to be "swept away" by what society says God is,
or what He is about. Whatever is said though, does not change who He is. "He is love." This can never change. In fact He sent
His one and only Son to die for us! Paul the apostle wrote this about God's love for us:
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us"
(Romans
5:8 NKJV)
You see God's love and acceptance is not dependent on what we do. He offers it free and willingly to us!! You do
not have to "be good enough to accept it", you only have to ask! He is always there, "waiting at the door for us" All that
He asks of us is that we are truly sorry for our sin and that we turn to Him.
You see many have the "misconception" that believers are perfect. This is not true though, not even close.....they are
only forgiven!!! That is why they need Him! that is why you and I need Him!! We cannot get it right on our own.
Will God accept you? A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y!!! If only you ask!!!!
You see God's heart aches for you. Like a Father who loves and misses His long lost child that is "separated" from
Him. His heart aches for you. More than you can, or ever could imagine.
No matter what you have heard, where you have been, what you have done, He loves you and He wants to be a part of
your life, and He wants you to be a part of His!
